Deloitte advised Teijin Frontier Co., Ltd. (“Teijin Frontier”) on the acquisition of J.H. Ziegler GmbH (“Ziegler”), a German supplier of automotive interior materials, from the financial sponsor Deutsche Private Equity.
About the transaction
The Deloitte Corporate Finance Advisory team in Frankfurt/Main led by Claudius Thiell together with Soichi Ota and Bastian Peters successfully advised Teijin Frontier on the acquisition of Ziegler. The Corporate Finance Advisory team supported Teijin Frontier jointly with the Japanese Deloitte Corporate Finance Advisory led by Kotaro Watanabe. Besides the Corporate Finance teams, a number of other Deloitte teams also supported the acquisition. The Deloitte Transaction Services team was led by Andreas Korten, the Deloitte M&A Tax team by Thomas Welz and the Deloitte Legal team by Andreas Jentgens. Deloitte’s industry expertise as well as its integrated service offering provided significant value-add to Teijin Frontier and ensured a smooth and efficient cross-border transaction within a short time frame.
Ziegler has a total workforce of approx. 400 employees and is headquartered in Achern-Oberachern, Germany. It provides advanced nonwoven lining structures, including materials that help prevent wrinkling and keep luxurious appearance of genuine leather materials used in car seats. Ziegler also produces high-quality sound-absorbing materials and nonwovens for home interior and heat insulation use with its main customers belonging to the automotive and furniture industries.
Through the acquisition of Ziegler, Teijin Frontier will improve its automotive interior materials’ production and sales capabilities in Europe, thereby enhancing its presence in the global automotive market and allowing it to increase its market share.

Teijin Frontier is a subsidiary of the Japanese company Teijin Ltd., a leading listed chemical and pharmaceutical company with around 20.000 employees and annual sales of more than EUR 6 billion. Teijin Frontier is specialized in the production of apparel and industrial textiles as well as materials for the automotive industry. The company is also engaged in the production of polyester fibers and nonwovens.
