Deloitte Corporate Finance Advisory acted as exclusive financial advisor to MDT technologies GmbH on the sale to IK Investment Partners

Deloitte Corporate Finance Advisory (“DCF”) acted as exclusive financial advisor to MDT technologies GmbH (“MDT”), a Germany-based manufacturer of smart building automation components based on KNX standard, on the sale to IK Investment Partners (“IK”), a London-based Pan-European private equity firm.

About the transaction

DCF provided sell-side M&A lead advisory services to the owners of MDT. The team led by Reiner Schwenk and Michael Caspers successfully advised the owners of MDT in a highly competitive process on their sale to IK which is expected to help MDT to further strengthen its organization and drive growth as a key innovator in the KNX space.

Having entered the KNX market in 2009 and followed by an impressive success story, MDT is a true “hidden champion” and evolved to one of the leading manufacturer of smart building components based on KNX standard. The company’s full range of innovative KNX components comprises actuators, sensors as well as system devices enabling the automation and control of multiple functions including heating, ventilation and lighting in both residential and commercial buildings.

For the last 15 years the business has been successfully managed by the managing partner Hans-Joachim Kremer. The long-time co-owner Harro Möwes is now retiring at the age of 75. In the course of this change both owners decided to settle their succession and IK becomes the new strategic partner to continue the success story of MDT together with Hans-Joachim Kremer who remains as a shareholder and continues to be the Managing Director of MDT.
