GCA Altium advises benpac on the acquisition of Gallus Group

GCA Altium has advised benpac holding AG, a leading Swiss packaging solutions firm, on the acquisition of Gallus Group, a global leader in the development, production and sale of conventional and digital narrow web presses for the label and packaging printing sectors, from Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG. The transaction includes the transfer of various subsidiaries, including Heidelberg Web Carton Converting GmbH.

benpac holding AG is a leading international group for all-inclusive packaging solutions with headquarters in Stans, Switzerland. The group also operates in the fields of engineering, IT technology and consulting. benpac employs 3,150 people and is primarily active in the USA and Asia.

Gallus has production facilities in Switzerland and Germany. In addition to its range of presses, Gallus offers the Gallus Screeny series of screen printing plates, a comprehensive range of printing accessories and spare parts, as well as a globally decentralised service. Furthermore, Heidelberg Web Carton Converting provides high-end web printing solutions for folding carton printing.

Through this transaction benpac is strengthening its position as an internationally leading group of companies in the areas of packaging, engineering, IT technology and consulting.

benpac and Heidelberg have agreed that Heidelberg will continue to manage the sales and service of the Gallus portfolio following the acquisition. Gallus customers will therefore continue to benefit from the proven quality and reliability of the world’s largest service network in the print media industry.

Marco Corvi, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors of benpac holding, said: „The acquisition of the Gallus Group is of great strategic importance for benpac. It completes our overall range of products and services in the packaging sector, thereby ensuring that we can offer the entire value chain. The expertise of the Gallus Group will contribute to the further development of our group.“

This transaction, GCA Altium’s 34th to date in 2020, underscores the firm’s deep expertise in the packaging sector, after recently advising Alpla on the acquisitions of Alpla Zamil, Argo and Boxmore, as well as advising Eurosicma and TMC on the sale of majority stakes in their businesses to IMA.
