About the transaction
In spring 2019 Mercurius Private Equity and further shareholders of GVG Glasfaser initiated a combined M&A and financing process to evaluate their strategic options for GVG Glasfaser, a leading German operator of broadband infrastructure in rural areas, and to explore alternative possibilities to finance the build-out of GVG Glasfaser’s own fibre networks. The process resulted in an acquisition of GVG Glasfaser by the German infrastructure investor Palladio Partners. The transaction will allow GVG Glasfaser to expand its own fibre network significantly and thereby also contributes to the German government’s goal of a nationwide coverage with Fibre-to-the-Home (‘FttH’). KPMG Deal Advisory acted as financial advisor to GVG Glasfaser and its shareholders alongside co-advisor Rautenberg Moritz & Co.
